FRP Purlins
FRP Purlins—also known as FRP anti-corrosion purlins—are manufactured using a pultrusion process involving fiberglass and resin. Specifically designed for structural roof support in factories and warehouses, they serve as a modern alternative to traditional galvanized steel purlins.
FRP purlins are produced via the pultrusion process; consequently, the resulting products are referred to as FRP pultruded purlins. The primary constituents of these purlins are resin and fiberglass, manufactured using alkali-free glass rovings and high-quality resins. During the manufacturing process, the thermosetting resin matrix undergoes heat-induced cross-linking to form a three-dimensional network structure. This structure ensures exceptional dimensional stability under normal conditions and minimizes post-molding shrinkage.
Applicable Industries for FRP Purlins
- Chemical plants, electroplating plants, textile printing and dyeing plants
- Livestock farms (poultry farms, pig farms)
- Coastal industrial facilities, warehouses, and steel-structure roofing systems
- Industrial facilities situated in highly corrosive environments
FRP Purlins vs. Steel Purlins
- Steel Purlins: Prone to rust, short service life, requires maintenance
- FRP Purlins: Corrosion-resistant, electrically insulating, maintenance-free, long service life
Features of FRP Purlins
1. Superior Corrosion Resistance
Resistant to acids, alkalis, and salt spray; they do not rust or corrode, making them particularly suitable for chemical plants, electroplating facilities, livestock farms, and coastal industrial buildings.
2. Lightweight yet High-Strength
Weighing only one-quarter as much as steel purlins, they offer high structural strength and excellent load-bearing capacity. This facilitates rapid installation and significantly reduces labor costs.
3. Electrical Insulation and Safety
Non-conductive and spark-free, they provide a safer structural solution for power plants and workshops housing flammable or explosive materials.
4. Long Lifespan and Maintenance-Free
Suitable for outdoor use for over 20 years, requiring no painting, rust removal, or routine maintenance.
5. Wind, Snow, and Aging Resistance
Capable of withstanding both high and low temperatures, as well as UV radiation, making them suitable for a wide range of harsh environmental conditions.
