FRP Channel Beam
I. Physical Properties of FRP Channel Beams
FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) channel beams are composite profiles based on a fiberglass-reinforced plastic matrix. Their core characteristics include:
1. Lightweight and High Strength: With a density approximately one-quarter that of steel, their longitudinal strength approaches that of ordinary steel; they possess a high specific strength, making handling and installation labor-efficient.
2. Strong Corrosion Resistance: Resistant to acids, alkalis, salt spray, and seawater; they do not rust, making them suitable for chemical processing, marine, and wastewater treatment environments.
3. Electrical Insulation / Non-Magnetic: Non-conductive and free from electromagnetic interference, they are ideal for use in substations and hazardous areas prone to fire or explosion.
4. Aging Resistance & Maintenance-Free: With the addition of UV inhibitors, their outdoor service life can exceed 20 years; the color is integral to the material and does not fade, eliminating the need for painting.
5. Temperature Adaptability: Generally operates stably within a temperature range of -50°C to 100°C.
II. Application Scenarios and Performance Advantages
1. Platforms, support structures, and guardrails in chemical plants and electroplating facilities.
2. Corrosion-resistant structural components in wastewater treatment plants and marine terminals.
3. Insulating supports and cable trench cover frames for power transmission and photovoltaic systems.
4. Auxiliary structures for road infrastructure and telecommunication towers.
5. Equipment bases and walkways in corrosive environments.
III. Comparative Analysis with Other Materials
Advantages of FRP channel beams compared to traditional steel channel beams: non-corrosive, lightweight, electrically insulating, and extremely low maintenance costs. Disadvantages: the elastic modulus is lower than that of steel, requiring careful structural design for support when used over large spans; while the initial purchase price is often higher than that of ordinary steel, the total life-cycle cost is significantly lower.
IV. Usage Precautions
1. Installation Requirements: Non-metallic fasteners must be used to prevent electrochemical corrosion; the bolt tightening torque is recommended to be controlled within the range of 10–15 N·m.
2. Temperature Limits: The long-term operating temperature range is -40°C to 120°C; exceeding this range may lead to resin softening (refer to the ISO 75-2 standard).
As demonstrated by the above analysis, FRP channel beams offer irreplaceable advantages in specific application scenarios; however, their cost and performance characteristics should be carefully weighed against actual project requirements. V. FRP Channel Beam Specifications and Models
Available models include 50×20mm, 80×40mm, 100×50mm, 200×50mm, and various others. We support custom non-standard dimensions, flame-retardant or low-temperature-resistant formulations, and color customization; lengths can be cut to meet specific project requirements.
The above represent our commonly used models; colors are customizable. Please feel free to contact our company at any time if you require products with other specifications or models.
